Hi! Way back in 1996, I created and wrote HUMOR IN THE NEWS as a funny photographic romp through the political and social landscape. It was and continues to be a fine way to keep a visual log of what was and is happening around the world. Twelve years later, HITN has gained thousands of visitors each month and I want to thank all of you. Beside writing the site (now with Emmy Award-winning writer, Rick Overton), I continue to act in film/TV. Coming in Fall ’09, I play Henry Kissinger in the new Bill Pullman film, “Your Name Here” and also you can hear me voice the characters on Comedy Central’s “Lil’ Bush”. Also, I was hired by Coca-Cola to be the voice of the “Powerade” ad campaign for two years and have done many other television and radio voice-overs.
During the last twelve years while writing HITN, I was a regular contributor to the Los Angeles Times (3 years) under the bi-line, “Chris Pina’s Daily Essential List” and was a staff writer for the Game Show Network’s “National Lampoon’s Funny Money” for two seasons. I formed an improv comedy group, The Fugitives, with Rick and some of the best LA comics around. We were the Hollywood Improv’s in-house group for four years. In ’08, I wrote “Mascots”, a comedy series for Endemol’s web broadcast arm. Rick Overton and I have written a new screenplay called “Still Warm” and we both star in the upcoming docu-comedy film, “Take 22”. Seems we are forever tied at the hip and thank goodness for that!
I was hired in June 2009 as a monologue writer for "Late Night with David Letterman". Maybe Lisa's hard work and me sticking with writing Humor In The News all these years, helped me obtain this wonderful opportunity.
I live happily in Los Angeles with my love Lisa Coburn and Annie, a pushy mutt.

A stand-up comic and actor for over 30 years, Rick has appeared in over 80 films (IMBD), on all the major talk shows, numerous cable comedy specials and has won an Emmy for his writing on HBO's Dennis Miller Live.
In Summer 09, look for Rick co-starring with Matt Damon in Steven Soderberg's "The Informant" as well as the Harold Ramis' social comedy, "The Year One" starring Jack Black and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.
Profoundly dyslexic since birth and now at the age of 53, Rick's feeling much younger these days.

Lisa Coburn has been the designer and editor of Humor In The News since its inception back in 1996. She possesses a wonderfully creative vision and applies her style and imagination through her web design business in Los Angeles. Without her, there would be no Humor In The News.
Lisa has always enjoyed a colorful life. Being the daughter of legendary film actor, James Coburn (who won 1998’s Best Supporting Actor Oscar for "Affliction"), she was provided with the opportunity to live around the world and have unique experiences.
When she was sixteen, Lisa moved to New York and began her love affair with jazz. Singing jazz and blues, she has worked with music greats in smoky clubs highlighted by performing for the Duke Ellington Society Conference. She has also sung on film soundtracks and commercials.
After returning to Los Angeles Lisa spent many years involved in the motion picture business, from stunt driving to being a part owner of a film production company.
While continuing her musical interests, Lisa found another love - web design. She began taking on clients about 10 years ago. Some of her wonderful clients are:
